Invecchiamento nei gatti: cambiamenti fisici e funzionali comuni

Gli animali da compagnia anziani costituiscono una parte significativa della popolazione di pazienti del veterinario per piccoli animali; negli Stati Uniti, ad esempio, è stato stimato che nel 2011 oltre il 20% dei gatti da compagnia avesse 11 anni o più. Alcuni cambiamenti associati all'invecchiamento non sono né positivi né negativi, ma altri sono meno desiderabili, associati a malattie, cambiamenti nella mobilità o allo sviluppo di comportamenti indesiderati. Questi cambiamenti possono influenzare notevolmente la salute e il benessere del gatto e avere un importante impatto sul proprietario.
